Jared is an associate in Pellis Law Group’s New York office. He has a diverse legal background, having experience in both intensive legal research and writing as well as fast-paced oral advocacy and litigation. Jared brings great patience and a genuine curiosity about the legal questions he encounters. Those attributes are critical for dissecting and interpreting complex insurance policies and for developing strategies to ensure policyholders obtain the insurance to which they are entitled.

Jared completed his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where he also played basketball and competed on the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship team. Jared then attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. During law school, Jared gained practical experience representing incarcerated clients seeking postconviction relief, volunteering for several pro bono programs, and competing on the mock trial team.

Out of law school, Jared completed clerkships for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court and for the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. As a trial-court clerk, Jared wrote legal memorandums assessing dispositive motions in civil cases, including motions to dismiss, motions for declaratory judgment, and motions for summary judgment. As an appellate-court clerk, Jared prepared the initial draft opinions for appeals primarily concerning civil, criminal, and family law cases. In both clerkships, Jared gained valuable experience researching and analyzing issues involving insurance coverage and the interpretation of contracts and of statutory provisions. He also refined his writing skills, developing a reputation for confronting legal issues in a concise, easy-to-understand manner.

Prior to joining Pellis Law Group, Jared worked as a Staff Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, defending hundreds of indigent clients charged with misdemeanor offenses. In that role, Jared balanced a sizeable caseload, negotiated favorable resolutions for his clients, filed numerous motions, and successfully litigated multiple evidentiary hearings as lead counsel. In one of those hearings, the judge agreed that law enforcement had unlawfully stopped Jared’s client and granted suppression of all evidence obtained from that traffic stop. Following the judge’s decision, Jared successfully opposed a motion to reargue, and the prosecutor eventually agreed to dismiss the case.
