Meet Our Team

I am the founding and managing partner of Pellis Law Group, LLP, and have over 28 years of experience handling commercial policyholder-based coverage disputes and complex commercial litigations. Additionally, I specialize in risk management advice and the negotiation and procurement of manuscript insurance coverage. I have extensive experience in commercial transactions and acquisitions, including managing corporate legacy liabilities (mainly environmental).

I became a lawyer not only because it was what I had always wanted to do, but because I believe that legal training is a considerable asset to most business endeavors. Unlike many of my peers, I continue to practice law because I enjoy what I do and maintain my passion for our profession’s challenges. Besides being a partner at several top law firms, I have been in-house general counsel and a principal within a large architecture and engineering firm. As such, I have utilized outside attorney’s legal services and dealt with a highly competitive business’ internal budgeting process. Being on both sides of the equation and appreciating most businesses’ tough decisions has helped guide Pellis Law Group’s philosophy. I bring a distinctive approach and demeanor to each client and matter. I strive to embody an “old school” legal professional’s characteristics while embracing my younger colleagues’ technology and insights. Pellis Law Group is well versed in a wide variety of insurance policy language and most policy forms, which minimizes the time needed to formulate a strong response in a pending coverage crisis. Our preferred approach, with which we have a high rate of success, is to avoid litigation and compel the other party to honor the bargained-for obligations under the policy, thereby reducing our clients’ costs. Pellis Law Group is often involved in potential exposure early enough to help with the first notice of loss. We can then manage the interface with the insurance carriers throughout the process. When this is not possible, we prepare to litigate meritorious disputes.
